My mother and I are in a storage room behind her gallery, its lights shut off so as not to damage the displayed textiles with over-exposure to light. The tem- perature in the storage room is chilly, somehow made more noticeable by the constant double whirring of the air-conditioner and dehumidifier which are always on at full blast because the textile pieces need to be in a tem- perature-controlled room, like wine.
